Safe/Sea: Our Fleet of Rescue Boats

The Safe/Sea fleet of six rescue towboats has been custom designed and built to our exacting standards to provide the boating public with the quickest, safest, and most effective assistance services possible.

All of our vessels are independently inspected and certified through the Accredited for Commercial Assistance and Professional Towing (ACAPT) program, which is administered by C-Port, the National Trade Association for the Marine Assistance Industry.

The M/V Safe/Sea Newport is a 35' long, twin diesel engine powered rigid inflatable boat (RIB) that boasts 740 horsepower. She is based in Wickford, RI and operates in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island Sound, and Block Island Sound.

M/V Safe/Sea SalvorM/V Safe/Sea Salvor

The M/V Safe/Sea Salvor is a sistership to the Safe/Sea Newport, powered by an identical powertrain and equipped with an identical electronics suite. She is virtually indistinguishable from her sister, and operates in the same geographical area.

The M/V Safe/Sea Titan is a 30', single engined version of our Safe/Sea Newport and Safe/Sea Salvor rescue boats. Her powertrain uses the same engine, transmission and waterjet, just in a single configuration instead of the larger vessels' twin. She carries the same electronics suite as her bigger cousins and operates in the same geographical area.

The M/V Safe/Sea Block Island is a 33' RIB that differs from the Newport and Salvor vessels slightly in length (33' vs. 35') and horsepower (630 vs. 740), but is otherwise identical in nearly every other aspect. She is our primary responder in Block Island Sound and is based in Block Island's Great Salt Pond during the summer boating season.

M/V Safe/Sea Point JudithM/V Safe/Sea Point Judith

The M/V Safe/Sea Point Judith was the first twin diesel, waterjet RIB built for Safe/Sea and the prototype used to develop all of our later vessels. She is our primary responder in Rhode Island and Block Island Sounds, and is based in Point Judith from early spring through Thanksgiving.

M/V Safe/Sea RescueM/V Safe/Sea Rescue

The M/V Safe/Sea Rescue is our smallest and least utilized rescue boat, a 17' Avon SR5 powered by an outboard. She spends most of her time on her trailer, ready to be deployed wherever necessary to back up our frontline rescue boats on the busiest summer weekends.
