M/V Safe/Sea Titan
Background
The Safe/Sea Titan was built for Safe/Sea over the winter of 2003-2004 by Almar Boats of Tacoma, Washington. She entered service as a primary Narragansett Bay responder in the summer of 2004, she is currently based out of Point Judith. Her hull is welded aluminum, with a 24" diameter inflation collar. The M/V Safe/Sea Titan is normally in service from early spring through Thanksgiving.
Powertrain
The Safe/Sea Titan is powered by a Yanmar 6LY series turbodiesel that produces 440 horsepower. Her engine is coupled to a Hamilton 274 waterjet through a Borg-Warner 1:1 marine transmission. This powertrain configuration provides her with a top speed of 35 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 30 knots. In the hands of an experienced operator, her waterjet propulsion system gives the Safe/Sea Titan amazing manueverability. She can spin 360 degrees without moving forward or astern and can even move directly sideways or diagonally while maintaining her heading.
Electronics Suite
Like all of our primary response boats, the Safe/Sea Titan is equipped with a full communications and navigational suite, including a Simrad Radar and GPS chart plotter, Datamarine SEA156 marine VHF radio, and digital video recording system.
